I always have community members ask for ideas for something crunchy and this Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas recipe is sure to give you that crunch you’re looking for as well as a satisfying plant-based snack!

If you’re looking for a better-for-you crispy snack, give this roasted chickpeas recipe a shot!

Not only are chickpeas a great source of plant-based protein, they are filled with minerals and vitamins!

They are particularly high in manganese and the B vitamin, folate.

Air fryer chickpeas make a great snack for soups and as salad toppers

Chickpeas in the Air Fryer

I love using my air fryer for all types of things.

One of the ways I use my air fryer is roasting veggies!

In this Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas recipe, you’ll air fry these legumes on 380 degrees F for 13 to 15 minutes.

I always recommend checking on your air fryer the last 3-4 minutes to make sure your chickpeas aren’t burning as air fryers vary from brand to brand.

To crisp up your chickpeas, roast for 13 to 15 minutes in a 400 degree air fryer

Roasted Chickpeas in the Oven

If you don’t have an air fryer, or you simply prefer using the oven, this roasted chickpeas recipe can be easily made in your conventional oven.

You’ll preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.

Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly sprayed with non-stick spray.

Roast the chickpeas in a single layer for 20 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy to your preference.

Crispy chickpeas can also be roasted in the oven for that extra crispy treat

Crispy Chickpeas

The key to crispy chickpeas is this: make sure after you rinse your chickpeas, dry them off completely with a paper towel or clean kitchen towel.

The less water they have on them, the crispier they will roast up!

Dry chickpeas will allow the oil you use on them to really get crunchy!

Also, if you find your chickpeas aren’t as crispy as you’d like them to be, simply air fry or roast in the oven a little longer until they reach your desired crispy preference!

Finally, if you find your chickpeas are popping all over the place, your oven might be too hot (all oven bake differently). Simply reduce the heat and bake for longer.
